Should You Add In Strength Training?

Should strength training be added in to your routine during the winter months??

While the answer “it depends” seems to universally fit…we like to say “yes” instead.

This all of course depends on your goals and athletic capacity, but strength training offers a variety of benefits.
  • Increased muscle density and strength
  • Muscle variety through alternative ranges of motion
  • Ability to strengthen weaker muscles groups you might not usually hit
  • Less monotonous workouts (let’s face it, those five hour bike rides can get boring)
  • Increased resting calorie burning /metabolism
  • Stronger muscle support for joints
  • Better stability for practicing Yoga to keep those joints happy πŸ˜‰

While any change in your exercise should be confirmed with your coach and/or medical professional, we always like to changing and shaking things up a bit. This can help with those “winter time blues” of constant indoor training that feels flat and dull.
